Journal Bearings Rebabbitting
Journal bearings are most often used in industrial machines that require high horsepower and high loads like turbines, gearboxes, and pumps. The shaft rotates in the bearing with a layer of lubricant separating the two parts, there is no rolling element comparing to usual ball bearings. Two primary categories of Babbitt are tin based, and lead based. Tin-based Babbitt is used for high speed or hard to lubricate bearings, while lead-based Babbitt is employed with low speed or heavy load bearings.
Rebabbitting is undertaken by centrifugal process, we work closely with our partners to ensure with the same or higher grade of Babbitt metal is applied. Bonding is checked by ultrasound process and machining is thereafter perform maintaining the close tolerances as per the requirement. Common example are white metal journal bearings, thrust bearing pads and thin shell bearings which we deal with.
For every bearing rebabbitt by BESPL we furnish ultrasonic bond (UT) certification, magnetic particle testing (MPI) report and dimensional inspection report. On demand we can arrange third party inspection of Babbitt bearings by Lolyds, Dnv, Registrar of shipping and other inspection agencies.
